Phuket Flooding Update: What Travellers Should Check Now

Phuket flooding has disrupted roads and neighbourhoods after heavy rain on 25–26 October. If you are flying to Phuket soon, check three things separately: your flight, access to your exact hotel and the route between them. A video from one street cannot tell you the condition of the whole island.
This guide explains the dated reports, the checks to make before arriving and how to keep your Phuket itinerary flexible. Information was checked on 26 October 2026, Thailand time (UTC+7). It is a travel-planning update rather than a live road, airport or evacuation service; newer official instructions take priority.
The four travel images in this guide are generated editorial illustrations. They do not document the October 2026 floods. The forecast graphic is a dated summary of the cited TMD bulletin.
Phuket flooding update: what has happened?
Associated Press reported on 26 October 2026 that overnight rain had caused flooding across Phuket’s three districts. Some water levels were falling by late morning, while lower-lying locations remained affected. Read the dated AP report.
Local reporting also describes mud and debris on Soi Nanai 5 and Soi Nanai 8 in Patong. The Phuket News reported morning cleanup work and improving water levels at several sites, while authorities continued to warn about further runoff. Receding water does not automatically mean a road has been cleared for travel. The Phuket News: 26 October, 09:53 report.
The Thai Meteorological Department’s current warning covers further heavy rain in the south through 28 October. This is a reason to keep checking conditions rather than assuming the overnight event has finished. Check the latest TMD warning.

Which parts of Phuket have been affected?
Location and report date both matter. The examples below identify places mentioned in dated reporting. They are not a complete list of flooded locations, a live closure list or a route recommendation.
On a small screen, swipe the table sideways.
| Reported location | Dated report | Check before moving |
|---|---|---|
| Patong · Nanai area | 26 October: mud and runoff affected Soi Nanai 5 and 8; cleanup continued after water receded. | Ask your property about its actual access lane and any local restrictions. |
| Thalang · Thepkrasattri Road | 25 October: flooding outside Thai Watsadu in Si Sunthon disrupted small vehicles on the outbound side. | Have your transfer provider confirm the route for your travel time. |
| Other reported locations | 25 October reports included low-lying Rawai, an area by Wat Tai in Chalong, and Phra Phuket Kaew Road in Kathu. | Verify the exact address and road. A district name is too broad to establish access. |
Sources: The Phuket News, 26 October and The Nation, reporting on 25 October. A place missing from this table is not confirmed clear. A place listed here is not necessarily still flooded.
If you are searching for Patong flooding today, use a report with a visible date and a named road. Ask your hotel for a current update; do not travel to an affected area just to inspect or photograph it.
How long could the heavy rain affect Phuket?
TMD’s seven-day bulletin, issued at 05:00 on 26 October, expects more heavy rain in southern Thailand on 26–28 October. Its regional outlook suggests less rain from 29 October to 1 November, with isolated heavy downpours still possible. It is not a street-level flood forecast or an all-clear for a particular resort. Read the official forecast and its issue time.

For a departure several days away, do not treat today’s pictures as a forecast for your arrival. Recheck the official bulletin closer to travel, then confirm local access. Cleanup, drainage and road inspections can follow a different timetable from the rain.
Is Phuket airport open, and can you reach your hotel?
Use HKT’s official flight information and your airline for the current answer. This article does not establish that the airport is closed or that all flights are operating normally. Road flooding and airport operations are separate checks.
- Before departure: look up your flight number in the airline app and on the official Phuket International Airport website. Check every connection if you are travelling through Bangkok.
- Before landing: ask the hotel and transfer company whether the exact road to reception is accessible and which vehicle is appropriate.
- For the return: ask the driver for a fresh route assessment and a larger buffer. Follow the airline’s airport-arrival guidance; do not rely on a normal dry-day transfer estimate.
Do not use an old airport-closure headline or an undated social video as proof about your flight. Equally, a flight marked as scheduled does not guarantee that a particular hotel lane is clear.
The last kilometre matters. A main road can be passable while a smaller hotel access road is not. Ask about the full journey, not just “Is Patong OK?”

A message you can send to your hotel
Hi, we are arriving on [date] at [time] and staying at [property]. Could you confirm today’s conditions on the road all the way to reception, whether our booked transfer can reach you, and whether electricity, water and food service are available? Please also let us know about any local restrictions or recommended changes to our arrival.
Ask for a fresh answer near your arrival time. A reassuring message from yesterday may no longer describe the same conditions.
Should you cancel or postpone your Phuket trip?
Decide from your exact trip, current instructions and confirmed access. A province-wide headline cannot settle this for every traveller. Use the following as planning questions, then speak to your travel provider if a change is needed.
Hotel access is not confirmed
Pause the transfer arrangements. Ask the property and booking provider about access, an alternative property or a date change before travelling into uncertainty.
Your flight is changed
Follow the airline’s options and contact the hotel and transfer company. Do not assume a weather-related refund or free change applies to every booking.
Access is confirmed, but tours are disrupted
Consider a lighter, land-based stay with flexible days. Decide whether that still matches the holiday you want, especially on a short trip.
You have specific care or mobility needs
Confirm reliable access, lifts where needed, essential supplies and suitable support before committing to the journey. Ask your provider for an appropriate alternative if these cannot be confirmed.
For changes or refunds, contact the airline, hotel or booking provider first and consult your insurer about the specific policy. Keep written confirmations and receipts. Coverage and cancellation rights depend on the booking and policy; this article does not establish entitlement. Official guidance on contacting providers and insurers.
What about Phi Phi trips, ferries and swimming?
Check the actual sailing, not a general promise that “boats are running”. Ask the operator about the departure pier, date, weather restrictions, any harbour instructions and the procedure if the trip is changed. Do not travel to a pier unless the land route is also confirmed.
The TMD outlook warns vessels in the Andaman Sea to avoid thunderstorms. A period without rain at your hotel does not establish good sea conditions offshore. TMD marine guidance within the regional forecast.
- Island tours: keep a land-based alternative and confirm the operator’s change or refund terms before paying.
- Ferries: reconfirm the specific service. Do not infer an island-wide suspension or normal operation from this article.
- Beaches: follow lifeguards, flags and local restrictions. Do not swim in prohibited conditions or near visible runoff and debris.
Leave waterfalls, steep trails and hillside viewpoints out of an active heavy-rain or landslide-risk day. A scenic stop is easy to move to another day; an exposed route may be difficult to leave once conditions worsen.
What to do in Phuket when it rains: a flexible day
Ordinary rain and a flood emergency need different plans. If you are told to shelter or avoid travel, stay in a suitable place and follow those instructions. Use the ideas below only when the venue is open and the complete journey is confirmed accessible.

Morning · stay close
Have a relaxed breakfast near your accommodation, then check the latest local update. Choose one nearby indoor activity rather than crossing the island.
Midday · food and a sheltered stop
Consider a prebooked cooking class or an indoor lunch, confirming both the venue and the access route. A hotel-based activity may be the easiest choice during uncertain conditions.
Afternoon · choose by your base
In Patong, check Jungceylon for a possible shopping or dining stop. Near Central Phuket, Aquaria Phuket is an indoor option. Their inclusion here does not confirm today’s opening or road access.
Evening · keep it simple
Choose dinner at the hotel or nearby, leave room for a changed forecast and decide the next day’s route in the morning.
A short cafe or heritage walk in Phuket Old Town can be enjoyable once streets are clear and local advice allows it. It is not a reason to drive there during flooding. Keep the long viewpoint circuit and an island boat day for a suitable, confirmed window.
How Leeylo can adapt your Phuket itinerary
A good plan should help you enjoy the trip you can actually take. When preparing a personalized Phuket travel plan, we will consider your travel dates, hotel location, interests, the available forecast and relevant local updates.
- Group stops by area to reduce unnecessary transfers.
- Include indoor alternatives for days when outdoor plans need changing.
- Make days easier to rearrange around suitable weather windows and confirmed openings.
- Keep time for food and rest instead of filling every hour with another transfer.
- Explain what needs a final local check before a drive, viewpoint visit or sailing.
Choose your trip length on the Phuket plans page, or select the personalized option and add your dates, hotel and priorities. Our aim is to help you spend your Phuket time as enjoyably as the conditions allow.
Your plan is prepared using the information available at that time. It does not include continuous live monitoring or emergency assistance, and it cannot guarantee weather, transport access or future openings. New official instructions and current local checks take priority.
Already in an affected area? Safety and useful contacts
Do not walk, ride a scooter or drive through floodwater. Water can conceal debris and damaged surfaces. Stay clear of runoff channels, unstable slopes and electrical hazards, and follow the authorities’ instructions. CDC advises avoiding floodwater and flooded roads. Read the official floodwater safety guidance.
If a safe route is unavailable, ask your accommodation or local officials for assistance rather than testing the road yourself. Keep access clear for residents, cleanup crews and emergency services.
- Tourist Police: 1155 — tourist assistance. Official Tourist Police website.
- Medical emergency / ambulance: 1669.
- Police emergency: 191. Official emergency contact reference.
Save your property’s phone number and exact location as well. Use emergency lines for urgent help; flight changes and room availability belong with the airline or booking provider.
Phuket flooding: frequently asked questions
Is Phuket flooding today?
Flooding and mud-related disruption were reported on 25–26 October 2026. This page is a snapshot checked on 26 October, not a live feed. Check the latest official warning and a current update for your exact location.
Is Phuket airport closed because of the floods?
This article does not verify a current HKT closure or normal operations. Use the official airport flight information and your airline for your flight, then confirm the hotel transfer separately.
Is it safe to travel to Phuket after flooding?
There is no reliable island-wide yes or no. Check official instructions, your hotel’s actual access road, the transfer route and your own needs. If access or essential services cannot be confirmed, discuss a change with your provider.
How long will the Phuket floods last?
There is no verified island-wide recovery date. The current regional rain outlook is not a timetable for draining individual streets, clearing debris or reopening roads. Check local updates for your travel time.
Will the flooding affect a November Phuket holiday?
Today’s flooding does not establish conditions for a later holiday. Recheck the forecast and hotel access closer to departure, keep early bookings flexible and avoid treating a seasonal label as a guarantee.
Can I still visit Phi Phi from Phuket?
Confirm the specific tour or ferry with its operator and check any applicable harbour restrictions. Departure, sea conditions and access to the pier all matter. Keep a suitable land-based alternative.
Can Leeylo plan Phuket around rainy weather?
Yes. Choose the personalized option on the Phuket plans page and share your dates, hotel and interests. We will consider the available forecast and local updates while preparing your route, with alternatives and a flexible day order.
